The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need to expand digital literacy practices in Brazil, especially for the elderly population who were isolated for a long period. The present report aims to describe the activities developed to mitigate the effects of absence face-to-face contact on the elderly population served by the Youth and Adult Education Program (PEJA) promoted by the São Paulo State University of São José do Rio Preto. The activities were developed through video classes and podcasts created to broadcast content on basic mathematics and Portuguese orthography addressed to people in a process of acquiring digital literate practices. Nine episodes of video lessons and ten episodes of podcasts were created, and were sent instructions to EJA students on how to access the media on the internet. This material development was connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education. The development of the reported material directly benefited the grantee of the project, as she acquired skills for her future teaching practice, and, mainly, the population served by PEJA-Rio Preto, in addition to the local community, who expanded their digital literacy practices and had free access to basic education content during the period of social isolation.
