Abstract

This text’s objective is to contribute to elucidate the role of Economics in extension, as well as extension does in Economics, given the low number of academic production about extension projects within the course. The project presented is aimed at the Integrated Public Education Center (CIEP) of the municipality of Seropédica, and how this experience becomes fundamental for the intellectual development of these young people who seek to enter higher education when considering the possibility of articulation between teaching, research, and extension in the area of ​​economics within primary and secondary schools. The methodology used is the execution of the extension project, presented through a description of the activities carried out and the experience of teaching, research, and extension that took place among the coordinators and undergraduate students in Economics at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, such as meetings and the development of dissemination materials, to highlight the possible interaction between the extension project team and students of the CIEP Maria Joaquina de Oliveira. The main result was the social transformation seen from the promotion of access to knowledge. As an application, the continuity of carrying out extension projects in other public schools also stands out.
