Abstract

The present review analyzes the work of Noelia Rego, published in 2020 by the Monstro dos Mares publisher. The study presents a reflection on the intersection between decolonial epistemologies and popular education, advocating for their potential resistance against the modern-colonial education project. The author constructs her argumentation based on references from the Modernity/Coloniality Group, but she does not limit herself to it. She proposes an education that values the perspectives of indigenous peoples, women, black individuals, LGBTQIA+ individuals, among other subaltern groups, emphasizing the importance of a counter-hegemonic pedagogical practice that rescues traditional epistemes and promotes a transnational south-south intercultural dialogue. Her work highlights the need for intellectual and political autonomy, especially through popular education, to subvert paradigms and redefine pedagogical identities.
