The n-hexane is a common solvent widely used in industrial products and processes. Toxicological understanding is an important way to deal with industrial hygiene in order to avoid the hazards of hexane exposure. This paper overview researches that characterize toxicokinetic, toxicodynamic and industrial hygiene related to hexane. It also aims to describe hexane effects upon animal behavior and the research methods used in these behavioral evaluations. Animal studies have shown neurobehavior and motor impairment related to acute or chronic exposure to hexane, and in order to avoid hazards, prevention actions should be taken.
