This text narrates the theatrical production process carried out by the Scenic Creation Atelier class of the Theater Course at the Federal University of Uberlândia. The Scenic Creation Ateliers aim to offer students the possibility of immersing themselves in a creation, in which they can experiment and actively participate in all stages of a scenic creation process. Here I present the process report of the last production I coordinated, “The future is ancestral”, in which we carried out research on ancestry. To this end, there was a study on the participants' family trees and on the culture of some indigenous peoples in Brazil. The title of the montage is a quote from Ailton Krenak, Brazilian indigenous leader, environmentalist, philosopher, poet, and writer from the Krenak people, for whom we can only have a future if we break with the extractive vision of the living organism called Earth and learn to reconcile ourselves with our origins.
