The article presents a critical reflection on what I call "the idea of homoerotic art" because it does not have a solid conceptual formulation, but it does agency discourses that group artists and their works distinguishing them from other artists and works that could be sheltered in the idea of homoerotic art, but that are discursively excluded. The theoretical tension is made from concepts such as intersectionality, by Patricia Hill Collins and Sirma Bilge; of counter-sexuality, by Paul B. Preciado. Both are the theoretical ballast from which I discuss the use of the idea of homoerotic art. Among its application, Wilton Garcia is one of the few researchers that elaborates a reflection a little more concise, but even so, I observe gaps that must be tensioned. Finally, I propose the conceptual and theoretical reception of these artists and works in the concept of Ars Sexualis.
