When attending the pre-service teacher education courses in Music, who chooses to teach in Basic Education, besides bringing the identity of a teacher to the classroom, also brings the identity of a musician, since the two are imbricated. In a course of teacher training, it is necessary for academics to have freedom for these identities to manifest themselves when they are acting in school. In this paper, we have a focused look on Larrosa’s (2016) concept of experience, which is what happens to us, touches us and transforms us. This study is characterized as qualitative and aims to understand how artistic experiences in school relate and contribute to the composition of the musician-teacher. We conducted this research at a university in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, with eight academic students from the Music course who participated in the Music Teaching Initiation Scholarship Institutional Program (known as PIBID). We analyzed reflective portfolios, group talk and song lyrics composed by these academics. The musical making went through this training course in the subproject, allowing the identities of musician and teacher to be embedded in this training course.
