The purpose of this text is to present some theoretical reflections about what may lead some dancers to achieve excellence on the mastery of their art, from the perspective of the developmental psychology. The theoretical framework is the Cultural-Historical Psychology, created by Lev Semenovich Vygotsky and continued by other Russian psychologists who understand that there is an interdependency between the products of culture and the emergence of the higher psychological functions, solely human. Is sugested that one explanation for the differences between dancers could be a major development of the perceptual function and its relation to affectivity.Downloads
