Abstract

The article seeks to discuss the sexual-affective relationships of poor, black or mixed-race men and women based on the intersection of gender, race, social class and color. Reflecting on the inseparability between these categories allowed us to analyze the constructions surrounding ethnic-racial relations present in post-abolition Bahia, possibly translated in the form of color prejudice. The central debate of the text reflects on the practices and representations of masculinities in the 20th century, associated with interpretations of femininities, accounting for the historical conditioning of these social constructions, mainly in cultural environments aimed at men.
