This study is the result of reflections undertaken in the classroom and our experience as a master's and doctoral student of a postgraduate course in Administration. Guided by these debates and with the purpose of advancing these reflections, the present research was carried out, which aimed to recount the life story of Maria José (woman, white, lesbian, spiritist and working woman) in the light of the discussions of gender inequalities. In order to make this construction feasible, we sought to know the trajectory of family, social and professional life of the social actress and to investigate how she experienced the transition from a patriarchal society to the women's century. We seek to undertake an analytical dialogue about gender violence and its implications, sustaining the premise that this debate is set in a historical context that emphasizes female inferiority and marginalization. The methodological horizon that guided our research was the history of life, made possible through in - depth interviews and memory narratives, treated through discourse analysis.
