Este artigo constitui a transcrição de parte da mesa redonda no Seminário de História e Cultura, promovido pela pós graduação do Curso de história da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia e trata da relevante contribuição do Núcleo de Estudos de Gênero dessa instituição, constituído em 1997 para o fomento de movimentos sociais, políticas públicas relacionadas às construções de gênero, com seus avanços e desafios históricos, na cidade de Uberlândia-MG.
