Abstract

The article discusses the current configuration of the female presence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Brazil, from two points of view: the statistics of women's participation in the labor market and the performance of women's initiatives, groups or collectives that aim to disseminate ICT with women and girls and encourage them to study and work in this area. The conclusion points out that, whereas masculinity persists in the ICT labor market, the groups studied play the important role of welcoming women and making them aware of the inequalities of gender and race that permeate our society and, at the same time, of opening them new and promising possibilities for study and work. In this sense, they are characterized as spaces of female resistance.
KEYWORDS: Women in Masculine Professions. Work and Gender in ICT. Women's Groups or Collectives. Female Protagonism.
