Desquite e divórcio: a polêmica e as repercussões na imprensa

Resumo: A votação da emenda que estabeleceu o divórcio no Brasil, em 1977, gerou polêmicas em torno da indissolubilidade do casamento religioso, e das mudanças no contrato civil. O clero e os parlamentares se enfrentavam, e, tanto posições divorcistas quanto antidivorcistas davam ênfase à manutenção e reprodução dos valores familiares vigentes. Se a Igreja Católica lutava pela não aprovação do divórcio, os divorcistas apelavam para a imoralidade do desquite, propondo o re-casamento como forma de manter a honra da mulher, recolocando-a nos papéis de gênero. A imprensa deu ampla divulgação, fazendo produzir sentidos e imagens destes valores. Palavras-Chave: Desquite e Divórcio. Imprensa. Relações de Gênero. Abstract: The voiting of the constitucional amendment that stablish the divorce in Brasil, in 1977, created controversies regarding the church wedding dissolution and the charges at the civil contract. The Clergy and the legislative Body confronted each other, and, no matter in the part in favour or not of the divorce the emphasis was at the maintenance and reproduction of the family values. While the Catholic Church did not want the divorce to be aproved the pro-divorce Legislative Body used the possibility of a new marriage as a way to put the women in their natural place in society as na argument. The press gave a huge divulgation to this fact, and produced many senses and images of these values. Key-words: Divorce. Press. Relationship
