This article aims to relate the representation of withes in the cinema and the issues of woman appearance by focusing on the movie The Witches990). Female figures with supernatural powers, healers and cursers have spread in people’s imagination since the dawn of civilization. When Catholicism rises in the Middle Age, these women were demonized, representing about 80% of people murdered accused of witchcraft. With the rise of feminist movements, women gained space in society, but still under the patriarchy, with the instruments of control embedded in the “beauty myth”. Contemporary media, including cinema and literature, actively contribute to the maintenance of this system by creating and reinforcing beady standards. Women that deviate from such standards are considered inadequate and have their morals and capabilities discredited, often being represented as evil figures.
