This article analyzes the relationship between the short story Don’t Look Now (2008), by English writer Daphne du Maurier, and the homonym film transposition (1973) directed by Nicolas Roeg. The aim is to observe what implications multimodal literacy may have for literature teaching. The notion of literacy used in this article considers that each social context has its own, multiple ways of teaching and learning (STREET, 2001) and that contemporary literacy implies multimodal teaching (KRESS, 2003). The idea of multimodality is understood as resources of representation that construct meaning (KRESS; JEWITT, 2010). The tools of film analysis proposed by Jullier e Marie (2009) support the film study. We consider that the association of different ways of literacy may contribute to educating readers capable of acting in an informed and critical way in the multimedia world.
