“Don't talk about crisis, work” and precarious labor
meaning effects during the Covid-19 pandemic

In the first decades of the 20th century, with the increase in the access to digital media in Brazil and the growth of social networks, heterogeneous discourses have arisen in the cyberspace. Being the speech constituted by / for subjects (PÊCHEUX, 2009), we propose in this study to analyze some sayings that are spread on social networks, through cartoons from 2016 to 2020, with the objective of unveiling how the meaning effects of the expression “Don't talk about a crisis, work!”, forged in the context of the Brazilian labor reform, affects delivery workers in the period of economic, political and health crisis. This saying was made by President Michel Temer in his first official statement as acting president in 2016. The method used for the analysis of the cartoons was that of historical-dialectical materialism based on the theoretical-analytical device of the Pêcheutian Discourse Analysis. From the analyzes carried out in this study, we unveiled how the legal discourse of labor reform legitimized and accelerated the process of precarious working conditions and the survival of workers, with uberization.
