Geography should approach the technical and scientific knowledge to the space perceived and experienced by the student, contributing on citizenship. Within this context, this paper aims to investigate how awareness is being developed through the teaching of geography, the environmental impacts in the city of Pau Brazil, Bahia. As well as assess the importance that teachers of geography have attributed to this issue, and on the contribution of the teaching / learning in geography in the development of environmental awareness of the population. To achieve this goal was to survey the relevant literature (selection of specialized materials that provide appropriate subsidies for research addressing the issue environmental), the recognition of the study area, in terms of physical, environmental, social and cultural foundation for the provision of empirical, critical analysis and reflective pedagogical resources used by teachers, formulation and implementation of eight questionnaires for teachers of Geography and sixty questionnaires to college students X, objective questions and discursive.
