Brazil's current political scenario is not one of the best and this is not news to many people. At the same time, in the school, the teaching of Geography has been trying to be closer to the students and to make possible critical reflections on the most different subjects. This research sought to analyze the perceptions of Brazil of seventh year students of a school in the public network of Porto Alegre. To achieve the proposed objectives, a questionnaire was divided into four parts, namely: characterization of the research sample, survey on access to the means of communication, the presentation of affirmations and the request of agreement or disagreement with them and a question open about the visions and desires of futures for the country. The results pointed out that television still remains the main means of access to the information of the subjects surveyed at the expense of reading newspapers or accessing news sites. At the same time, one can see that the subjects agree that Brazil is a country with a lot of corruption and disagree that there are good politicians in the country. It is verified that the great part of the subjects, even recognizing the structural problems of Brazil, believes that a better future is possible and with the diminution of such situations.
