Abstract

This paper deals with a didactic experiment and its results developed remotely in the pedagogical practice of Geography with students from a state school in the education system of the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil). It is a methodological alternative for the elaboration of a cartographic document that spatializes the places in the municipality of Rio Novo (MG) to which the students of the Raulino Pacheco State School have affective relationships. Affective Cartography aims at the elaboration of representations of routes and places of sentimental relevance for the subject within the community to which he belongs, that is, those who refer them to past positive memories. These cartographic documents have as a common methodological characteristic the fact that they are built from collective experiences with the subjects in question. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 that imposed on the world society the need for social isolation as a way to reduce the speed of propagation of the pathogen, the construction of the cartographic representation at the heart of the present report was done at a distance, with geoprocessing as a subsidy for of the final cartographic product, during the tutored study regime proposed by the State Secretary of Education of the State of Minas Gerais.
