The article discusses the challenges experienced by theteacher in the current school reality, taking into account the teaching of Geography related to the experiences experienced in a municipal school of the public school of Abaiara-CE, during 2017. In view of these questions regarding the difficulties and challengeswe encounter in teaching, we problematize the following questions: What are the main challenges encountered in classroom teaching? What is our job as na educator, in the face of questions that surround our students' learning, and that are reflected in classroom practice? How to arouse in students the interest in the search for knowledge during geography classes? Thus, we discuss the main challenges we face in teaching, to reflecton the teaching of Geography today, especially in public schools. A literature review was carried out on the theme, based on Alarcão (2011), Arroyo (2012), Charlot (2013), Cavalcanti (1998, 2012), Habermas (2002), Japiassu (1976), Mosé (2014) and Vesentini (2005), relating the considerations of the authors to the experiences experienced as a teacher, establishing relationship with the practice experienced in the classroom. Following a qualitative approach, through a kindof "conversation" between authors on the theme, in view of reflections on the practices experienced in the classroom, experiences, difficulties and learning that we acquired throughout the training as a teacher. Thus, the work brings a pertinent discussion, presenting the challenges that are posed in the teaching profession of educator, with a reflexive bias on the practice in the classroom.
