SCENES FROM THE END OF THE WORLD: WORKING ON THE PROBLEM OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOCIETY AND NATURE ACROSS THE FILM LANGUAGE

Abstract

The present paper aims to demonstrate the possibility of working the relation society and nature on contemporaneity from the use of films about “the end of the world”. The methodology that guided the text construction has consisted from the analysis of a literature on elements that permeate the society and nature relation, as well as the study of academic papers about the pedagogic potential of the on class films utilization. On a second step, it was reflected on how some of the aspects, that make up the film “Wall-e” and “The Day After Tomorrow”, allow to question environmental issues nowadays. As a conclusion, it is emphasized the needs on working the environmental problem beyond the alarmism that evolves the “Catastrophic films”. It is defended the focus is supposed to be on the utilization of films as a foothold for actual reality looking, tracing points of intersection with the contemporary society problems and discussions. In other bias, it is also appointed to the necessity of thinking the society and nature relationship on a planetary scale of action, as well as terms of responsability while subject.
