Abstract

‘Mini UFUMUN’ is an educational simulation project affiliated with the Institute of Economics and International Relations (IERI) of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), aiming to expand student access to simulation events of international organizations, such as the United Nations (UN). The project seeks to be an inclusive alternative to similar high-cost events, supported by resources from the University and the ‘Clube de Simulação Oswaldo Aranha’ (CSOA) extension project. The initiative is divided into three simulation committees based on current topics of global relevance. The third edition of the event focused on the Israel-Hamas conflict and the action protocol for preventing global epidemics, in addition to organizing a press committee. This structure provided a space for young people to develop a critical understanding of complex international issues. The event, through communicative skills, not only contributed to the analytical development of youths, but also encouraged student political participation. In this way, the project expanded UFU's impact on the local community, ensuring that more students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, could have access to quality educational activities.
