Abstract

The scientific dissemination is intended to the dissemination of scientific information and knowledge through an accessible language and easy to understand aimed at the public not familiar with technical and specialized terms. The advancement and availability of digital technologies influence this practice since the numerous available social networks enable and expand the possibility of disseminating this information. Instagram is an online social network and a powerful tool for sharing media that has a high reach of people. In this sense, this work aimed to verify the results of scientific dissemination carried out using a profile on Instagram created by students of the discipline Methodology of Extension Project, the Degree in Biological Sciences course of the Federal Institute of Rondônia - Campus Colorado do Oeste. This extension project enabled reflections about the use of this platform as a tool for scientific dissemination and the own pedagogical training of extension students, since they were the ones who selected the contents worked and made the transposition of these in a language more accessible to the community. Finally, the project allowed the reduction of boundaries between institute-society since the online platform could be accessed from anywhere, by anyone.
