Abstract

This report seeks to demonstrate the importance of an educational process of/in dance for the development of children as individuals. It also aims to point out the difficulty for people with low income or from periphery to access this kind of activity, highlighting the importance of projects that enable education through art to those minorities. It discusses teaching-learning procedures in dance, more specifically on dance improvisation in the first cycle of early childhood education, trying to understand how the way of conducting the experiences potentiates the construction of knowledge and creativity of the child. We also emphasize the importance of rethinking certain concepts and preconceptions to make the study of dance accessible to the child at such an important moment of the development process of the individual, such as the period of childhood. The report is based on the activities of Body and/in Movement Project, carried out in a school of the state education network in Uberlândia, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil
