Abstract

This text is a brief report on my experience as a tutor in an extension activity, specifically in the six-month advanced training course ‘Education in Human Rights and Diversities: educating oneself and others for the construction of a society based on human rights’, intended for teachers and other professionals who work in elementary and middle school throughout Brazil. My participation resulted in a work presentation at the event ‘Brazilian National Meeting of Education in Human Rights and Diversities with Basic Education professionals’, held remotely by the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), as well as the aforementioned course. This report and the work presented focused on the rich experience that the tutoring provided me by participating in all activities, especially by reading, interacting, punctuating and having contact with the diversity of knowledge, ideas, and opinions that are so unique and subjective. With them, I had the opportunity to demystify some beliefs and prejudices, which are understood as a lack of knowledge about sexual and gender diversity, as well as the experience of trying to resolve conflicts by applying the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
