Abstract

: Paulo Freire, a renowned author known for his significant contributions to Education, stands out as a pioneer in the literacy of Brazilian adults and in the tireless search for raising awareness among the oppressed masses. He not only highlighted and condemned the structures of alienation and power, but also gave up his own freedom by living in exile, dedicating himself to the liberation of his fellow men. Although the work dates back to 1979, its ideals of struggle and its method of literacy, which goes beyond simply reading books, to reading the world, cause concern to this day. This review revisits Freire's ideas, his method, his positioning, enabling reflections on the need for social transformations.
