Abstract

This article intends to present a comparative perspective between the works that became feminist references in the 1950s-60s: The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan, and to demonstrate how Beauvoirian methodology contributed to the development of a new strand: American liberal feminism.
