Abstract

This text aims to address how moral control acted on cisgender and transgender sex workers through the discourse of the press and the police in Belo Horizonte, in the 1950s and 1960s. For this, references obtained from reading news from Belo Horizonte newspapers and magazines and court records referring to Cintura Fina transvestites are resumed. Through this treatment, it is possible to perceive a continuous process of criminalization of the experiences of transvestites and cisgender women prostitutes.

KEYWORDS: Sex Work. Moral Control. Cintura Fina. Police Speech.
