Regimes of Truth and Indoctrination

Reflections on the School Institution in Utterances of Project “Escola Sem Partido”

Abstract

This article presents some reflections based on the research “Regimes of truth about the school institution in utterances from project ‘Escola sem Partido’ [School Without Parties]”, which analyzes regimes of truth within the school environment through Twitter utterances present on Twitter, especially from the perspective of “indoctrination”. Based on the Foucaultian Discourse Studies, it analyzes the discursive constitution of the school institution through utterances produced by members and supporters of said political movement, particularly in relation to the notion of indoctrination. The reflections showed that contentwise the utterances claimed to defend impartial, ideology-free education through the idea of a school “without parties”, but discoursewise they responded to power games held in conservative, patriarchal, misogynous, and sexist speeches that establish a given “party” as a side to stand.
