Just like sexism and racism are experienced in different ways and at different levels of intensity by black women compared to white women and black men, so will LGBT+phobia have a different configuration when faced by black women. As Gloria Anzaldúa teaches us (2000, p. 229): “The lesbian of color is not only invisible, she doesn't exist”. In “Beijo na face”, a short story featured in the literary work Olhos d’água (2016), Conceição Evaristo provides us with the means to reflect on the ruptures that a black female body promotes in the white-centric and heteronormative social system, as it does not submit to the hegemonic discourse in neither the ethnic-racial sphere nor the affectivity and sexuality sphere. The semantic field of the short story is constantly crossed by the metaphorization of a genuine love, in its symbiosis with the pain of interdiction. A love that is, first of all, a gesture of insubordination.Downloads
