Abstract

The central theme of this article is a discussion of the meeting of bodies in assembly as a way of claiming collective rights and the right to existence. It focuses on how linguistic patterns and body norms exclude body and language possibilities that produce understanding of sexuality, gender, sex and sexual practices. The aim is to understand how artistic performances of the Brazilian group Não Recomedadxs break with the structural and linguistic standards of gender identities. The qualitative interpretations constructed throughout this article are based on studies on linguistic ideologies, and linguistic and gender performance. The findings show that meeting bodies in assembly allows the claim of rights and contestation of linguistic patterns and body representations, not only by affirming their existences but also by subverting any form of hate speech through the display of the fragility of standards.
