Debray (1992) argues that the history of mediology moves from logosphere (from the invention of writing to that of the press), to graphosphere (the era of art) to videosphere (the visual era). Pedagogical processes have responded to such transformations and moved from a pedagogy centered on the written text to one centered in visual processes, which, in turn, demand a new form of literacy. This paper presents a pedagogical experience based on intermedial processes developed at an undergraduate program in French language. Students were made able to recreate a source product into a digital media by means of a medial chain, in a process that fosters the learning of French as a foreign language. Starting from a book (source product), students working as both producers and perceivers (ELLESTRÖM, 2017) grasped a novel understanding of multimodal narratives.
