RELIEF MODELLING UNITS OF THE SANTA GERTRUDES STREAM BASIN, VERÍSSIMO, MINAS GERAIS STATE, BRAZIL
Abstract
Santa Gertrudes Stream is a tributary of the right bank of the Uberaba River, located in the municipality of Verissimo-MG, Brazil. The objective of this study was to describe the relief modelling units, the means and their stabilities with respect to natural aspects and anthropic interventions in the Santa Gertrudes Stream basin, which has recently been undergoing replacement of pasture with sugarcane culture. To this end, bibliographical and physical information surveys of the study area were used in order to provide the preparation of relief modelling units, such as geological and pedologic mapping data, slope charts, and ground use survey. Through this methodology, it was possible to prepare the relief modelling units and assess the stability of their means aiming to promote management and general and territorial planning, contributing to the development of economic activities, considering the limit to balance the forces that govern the natural dynamics of the environment with the interventions generated by anthropic activities.
