This work aimed to identify the main factors that lead the inhabitants of Alagoas to migrate to the city of Ituiutaba – MG. The study is characterized as exploratory and qualitative, with data being collected through in-depth individual interviews, carried out with Alagoans who migrated to the municipality. Regarding sampling, it was a convenience sample. The work becomes important because it allows the understanding of the contributions of migrants to the development of the Pontal region. It was possible to detect that most Alagoas came from the cities of the interior of Alagoas, due to social inequalities, and the majority came to Ituiutaba-MG in order to work. The jobs generally performed by Alagoas are mostly manual in plants and slaughterhouses. It was also found that the majority of migrants are satisfied with their current job and do not intend to return to their hometown.Key-words: migration, alagoanos, insertion in the labor market, organizations.
