TRADITIONAL FISHERMEN COMMUNITIES AND THE VECTORS OF DEVELOPMENT ON THE COASTAL PLAIN OF THE RIO DOCE (ES, BRAZIL) BETWEEN 1980-2015
Abstract
This paper raises a discussion about some issues inherent to the five communities of traditional fishermen located on the coast of the county of Linhares, north of the State of Espírito Santo (Brazil). Our objective was to analyze the positive and negative impacts of public and private sustainable development policies implemented in the communities between 1980 and 2015. Therefore, were realized literature review, documentary analysis, photographic coverage and open interviews with leaders of fishing communities. Was concluded that traditional activities (fishing, agriculture, livestock and extractivism) are still present in the communities, but are strongly impacted by vectors of development that reach the territory in a very incisive way and change the way of life of the local population. These vectors are represented by state conservationism combined with sustainable economic enterprises, the production of hydrocarbons and the expansion of the tourism sector.
