THE APPROPRIATION OF PUBLIC SPACE AND SOCIABILITY
AN APPROACH FROM THE ELDERLY AND THEIR MOBILITY IN ITUIUTABA (MG)
Abstract
The contemporary city presents inequality and significant imbalance in public spaces aimed at sociability and conviviality. The problem of urban dynamics in the public dimension is even more serious if the elderly person and their specificities are considered. Thus, we propose, with the objective of work, to analyze the possibility of the elderly to appropriate the urban green areas (AVU) and the Reference and Social Assistance Center (CRAS) in Ituiutaba. The methodological path of the work took place through documentary research and articulation of the guiding concepts; use of previous basis found in Pereira (2019); treatment of data from the census sectors and chaining and discussion of the analysis based on the production of space and the distribution of AVU and CRAS and the scope based on mobility. Through our approach, it was possible to show a strong centralization of the public spaces addressed, based on the production of urban space prior to the 1990s.
