Brief History
The Bioscience Journal originated in 1985 with the publication of the Revista do Centro de Ciências Biomédicas (ISSN 0102-5996) by the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU). In 1998, to replace the previous publication, the Bioscience Journal (ISSN 1516-3725) was created, marking the adoption of a new editorial model. This process involved a significant restructuring, including the creation of a dedicated department, changes in the Editorial Committee, and the expansion of the Scientific Editorial Board, resulting in a journal with greater reach and aligned with new editorial trends. Initially maintained by the Editora da UFU (EDUFU), the journal began to be managed directly by editors starting in 2007. That same year, the Bioscience Journal (ISSN 1981-3163) discontinued its printed edition, becoming exclusively online with quarterly periodicity and adopting the Open Journal System (OJS) to optimize its editorial process. Aiming for even greater agility, in January 2021, the journal shifted to an article-based continuous publication model, maintaining an annual volume of articles.
