Abstract

This article tries to understand socialities and identities built within the urban space of Villa Boa de Goyaz, capital city of the state of Goiás in 1726-1937. It aims at developing a history captured through sensitivity, brought to light by the sounds that were created, heard, or imagined there. We propose to transform sounds from different sources, mainly literary, in a power that enables the emergence of a narrative based on sounds considered as identity resonances. It is a non-linear flow of events that interconnects myths of origin, memories, and vestiges of the past dating back to the 18th century and going onward into the 19th and 20th centuries.

Keywords: soundscape; memory and literature; identities.
