Tamba-tajá: Fafá de Belém’s Amazonian regionalism
Abstract
In this paper we discuss the Amazonian regionalism in Fafá of Belém’s song repertoire. The starting point here is that her first album, Tamba-tajá, bequeathed an aesthetic and thematic line that has deeply affected the artist’s career, establishing distance from and return to the audiovisual material of Amazonian nature. Along these lines, the text focuses on her phonographic, video clip, and graphic material production, and highlights the reception of her work by the press, particularly by music critics.
