Abstract

Among the discursive practices that emerged with the pandemic, the practices generated by the discursive event known as the “kit covid” caught our attention. This event highlighted the contradictions that emerged within the medical discursive practice in the way of delivering modes of being and saying to the subjects regarding the cure for the coronavirus, since discourses favorable to the kit and those against it emerged. In order for the “true information” on how to fight the virus reached people, the groups used different devices in favor of their discourses. Such a scenario made evident a power dispute within medicine. In order to understand this shock, we perform an interpretation gesture in the discourse conveyed by the medical discursive practice in its attempt to give subjects ways to fight Covid-19. Such a gesture is necessary, since people felt confused, not knowing who or what to believe at that moment when a lethal virus haunted their lives. This article is affiliated with the theoretical current of Discourse Analysis from a Foucaultian perspective and is based on the studies developed by Michel Foucault in his archegenealogical phase. Based on the mentioned theoretical framework, we are faced with a rupture within medicine, so that it was possible to individualize discordant discursive formations about the cure.
