Archegenealogical notes on the use of a mask in the pandemic

Abstract

The constitution of subjects in the pandemic period of COVID-19 is part of a network of subjectivation modes that rescue singular discursive practices when analyzing the relationships between the use of masks and the production of meanings in / through history. The objective is to analyze, through the description of statements, how the use of masks produces effects of subjectivity and identity for the constitution of a subject in the sieve of discursive studies. Some corpus of analysis selected from the digital report published on the UOL website on June 5, 2020 under the title “From Anonymous to covid, wearing masks will change the logic of our relationships”, by Christian Dunker. To this end, this work is based on the Discourse Analysis studies of the French line, especially on the contributions of Michel Foucault and some contemporary discourse analysts. The theoretical-methodological procedure is guided by the description and analysis of the conditions of discursive possibility of certain meanings inscribed in history and in social relations with a focus in the archegenealogical and ethical perspective of existence. Thus, the use of masks constitutes a subject in the relationship between statements and the games of truth from the individual to the collective in the production of subjectivities.
