The monogamic apparatus and regimes of truth
an archaeological analysis of discourses on affective relationships on Instagram

This article conducts a discursive analysis of cisgender and heterosexual monogamy based on posts addressing the topic on Instagram. The relevance of the study is justified by the identified gap in linguistic/discursive research on the subject. Drawing on studies that challenge its naturalized condition, the analysis proceeds from the premise that monogamy constitutes a social and discursive construction. The research employs a Foucauldian framework of discursive analysis, focusing on the concepts of énoncé (statement) and discursive formation, and examines selected discursive materials from the social network to understand how the monogamic dispositive operates in digital contemporaneity. The methodology adopts the principles of dispersion, rarity, and exteriority proposed by Foucault, analyzing posts selected between September 2023 and April 2024. The study contributes to denaturalizing contemporary affective practices, not to condemn specific relational configurations, but to expand the field of ethical possibilities in the constitution of affects.
