In this paper, it was asked how the Inheritance Law teacher can hone their teaching skills to help students to master the subject’s content. The paper’s main goal was to demonstrate how Inheritance Law teaching can be improved based on the way the instructor facilitates the acquiring of knowledge, provides its integration, and promotes its practical application. The paper’s theoretical framework was How Learning Works, a book in which the authors develop principles directed to help University teachers to enhance their teaching methods. It was used the deductive method, as well as brief case studies. It was seen that the teaching of key-skills may benefit from the decomposition of complex skills into simpler ones. It was noticed that the isolated practice of each ability contributes to its internalization, but their gradual integration is crucial to the proper solving of problems. It was perceived that it is also fundamental to provide students the opportunity of applying those skills in various contexts, so they know where and when to use the acquired knowledge. The paper’s conclusion was that there are strategies that the Inheritance Law instructor can adopt to help students develop mastery of the subject.
