This study investigates changes in inequality of labor income in Brazil between 1995 and 2014. The main objective is to carry out an evaluation of the contribution of education to such changes, applying Recentered Influence Function (RIF) method and a generalization of Oaxaca-Blinder´s decomposition proposed by Firpo et al. (2007 and 2018). The results show that changes in the income structure, measured by the price effect, were predominant in explaining the contribution of education to the reduction of inequality in the analyzed period. In turn, changes in the educational composition of the workforce had the opposite effect on the observed decline in inequality.
