Abstract

Abstract: This paper tries to show that the concept of economic development, just as formulated by the so-called development economics, has an ideological dimension, since analysis which use that concept consider the capitalist relations of production like a premise, while the problem lies precisely in researching the contradictory development of those relations in the areas which form the capitalist periphery. We consider that, as an ideology, the theory of economic development has demonstrated a large capacity of survival, and the revival of the debate on development from a critical perspective requires overcoming radically that theoretical heritage.
