Author Guidelines

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • Articles and other contributions must be original and cannot be under review simultaneously in another journal.
  • All articles and other contributions must omit any indication that could identify the authors, as well as their affiliation..
  • Manuscript Preparation and Style Guide:

 

    • Your Paper Your Way: authors are free to submit their articles in any format or lay-out to be analyzed by the referees, provided that the article meets the following requirements:
    • Maximum 10 thousand words, including tables, footnotes, references, and appendices.
    • Maximum of 4 authors.
    • Title in the language of the article and in Portuguese, and English, or Spanish, as applicable.
    • Abstract (maximum of 100 words).
    • List of up to 5 keywords.
    • Complete bibliographic references.

 

  • Although the submission process is flexible regarding the article's formatting, there are specific guidelines for publishing accepted articles (see the section “Guidelines for Publishing Approved Papers”).
  • If authors wish to format the submitted article according to the publication guidelines, there is a template available from the journal (in Word), which can be accessed here.
  • All submissions to Revista Economia Ensaios undergo an initial review by the Editorial Committee.
  • If the work does not align with the journal’s scope in terms of contribution, methodology, formal requirements, word limit, writing style, etc., the Committee may decide not to proceed with the peer review process.
  • After the initial stage, articles are sent to reviewers for evaluation through the “blind review” system.
  • Submitting original manuscripts to the journal implies authorization for publication if approved.
  • Articles submitted in English are given priority for review and publication.
  • There are no copyright payments.
  • There is no submission or publication fee.

 

Guidelines for Publishing Approved Papers

  • All articles approved for publication in Revista Economia Ensaios must undergo initial formatting by the authors, following the template available  here.
  • Basic formatting for approved articles:
      • Maximum of 10,000 words (including all elements: abstracts, tables, footnotes, references, appendices).
      • In Portuguese, English, or Spanish.
      • Titles:
        • Articles written in Portuguese: additional title in English.
        • Articles written in English or Spanish: additional title in Portuguese.
      • Abstract (maximum of 100 words)::
        • In Portuguese and English (for articles written in Portuguese or English).
        • In Portuguese and Spanish (for articles written in Spanish).
      • List of up to 5 keywords:
        • In Portuguese and English (for articles written in Portuguese or English).
        • In Portuguese and Spanish (for articles written in Spanish).
      • JEL classification.
      • URLs for references with access date.
      • Bibliographic References:
        • Must be complete, alphabetically ordered, and in accordance with ABNT standards for scientific papers.
        • Should only include works cited within the text.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submitted article is original and unpublished and is not currently under review by another journal.
  • The article does not identify the author(s) in the body of the text or in the submission file.
  • The article follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the ‘Guidelines for Authors’.
  • The article has a maximum of 10,000 words.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
