INSTABILIDADE E CRISES NOS ANOS 90: A REAÇÃO CONSERVADORA

Resumo Este trabalho procura destacar que o aprofundamento da instabilidade financeira internacional, especialmente após a crise asiática, tem gerando dois tipos de reação: uma teórica, com a emergência de uma nova geração de modelos de crise cambial, e; outra política, associada às mudanças nas proposições de política econômica dos organismos multilaterais após 1997/98, que têm se concretizado em iniciativas de reforma da arquitetura financeira internacional. Argumenta-se que, apesar de alguns avanços, o recorte geral destas reações é marcado pelo reforço do conservadorismo. Abstract The purpose of this article is to show that the deepening of international financial instability, especially after the Asian crisis, is generating two types of reaction: one theoretical, with the emergency of a new generation of models of exchange crisis, and, another one political, associated with the changes in the proposals of politics of multilateral organisms after 1997/98, that have been materialise in initiatives of reform of the international financial architecture. One argues that, although some improvements have occurred, these reactions are characterised by the reinforcement of the conservatism.
