Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the visits at the Meteorological Station of the Federal University of Uberlândia, demonstrating the importance of conducting empirical activities for education, in particular for teaching Climatology. To conduct this work, we created a theoretical framework based on themes relevant to climatology and education, and utilizing data provided by the Laboratory of Climatology (UFU). Students who visit the station are of different ages and schooling, and most students attends elementary school and higher education. The visits are accompanied by trainees lab climatology presenting the weather station and discuss topics related to climate, its measurement and influence in human affairs. The visits grow every year and is a rich experience for students, teachers and trainees. Moreover, in most arouse students interest in the study of climatology and contributes to the process of teaching and learning and the theory worked in the classroom. The realization of this work is especially important for trainees who have initial contact with the dynamics of teaching and learning from the exchange in the teaching-learning process
