THE MEDIA INFORMATICS IN CLASSROOM: GOOGLE EARTH IN LEARNING GEOGRAPHY

Learning objects are tools that help in the learning of content in the classroom. Based on this perspective it was used the software Google Earth to verify the learning of the content about relief in Geography subject. A 6th degree classroom composed by 32 pupils in the teacher Julia Amaral di Lenna´s municipal school, Curitiba city, State of Parana. The methodology was developed on two main stages: Firstly the teacher thaught expository lessons and the students drew the map of Brazil in Ross (1995) in order to realized about the notion of space in the syllabus that deal with relief. On the second stage the students went to informatic laboratory to know the Google Earth software. They identified different kinds of the reliefs that exists in Brazilian territory. They were supported by the drawing map in the first stage. At the end of the activities the students answer a ten question objective test. The data information were subsequently put in a spreadsheet and discussed. In this way it was indentified the positive points fo the current usage of the Google Earth software when it handled in the learning of the Geography. The Google Earth sofware was pointed out as a resource that became easier the Geography learning. The usage of this tool of learning was motivating, stimulating and the curiosity by knowledge was aroused moreover it was developed to students the notion of space and cartographic representations.
