MAPS: HISTORICAL PROCESS OF CONSTITUTION AND INTERNALISATION SOCIOCULTURAL FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF VYGOTSKY

The cartographic production, analyzed within a historical-geographical perspective, shows cultural traits from the thinking and acting of its creators. The large trade that started around the tenth century printed its mark in map production especially the scientific reason and production techniques. Supported by the knowledges about the genesis of superior psychological functions(PSF) proposed by Vygotsky, it is presented here an analysis of the creation and reading of signs, of the internalization and the establishment of their own concepts of cartographic language that, even devoid of critical analysis by map readers, are builders of their living. In this essay, from the perspective of cultural-historical theory, it is discussed how a part of the cultural production of cartography happens, specifically understood as language, and so with its own grammar and attributes, that the teachinglearning process must take into account.
